Despite bleak forecast, IMF cites ?favorable’ economic outlook
Journal Staff Report

KIEV, June 5 – Inflation, while still “relatively low,” will rise this year in Ukraine while economic growth will slow, according to a senior International Monetary Fund official.

Not surprisingly, the predictions made by the IMF are in fact much more pessimistic than the official forecast of the Ukrainian government, which has predicted GDP will grow 6.5% amid inflation of 7.5% in 2007.
