KYIV, Jan 21 – Ukraine in the past three years cut anthracite consumption by 63% thanks to the switch of units of thermal power plants (TPP) to long flame coal consumption, from 10.5 million tons in 2016 to 3.9 million tons in 2018, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Ihor Nasalyk said.
According to him, as a result of this conversion, 1,300 MW of additional power generating capacity appeared in Ukraine and another 1,000 MW will be added this year thanks to the switch of the next batch of units to long flame coal. This is comparable to the work of one reactor, the minister said.
