KYIV, Feb 22 – A part of light roof of the turbine island of reactor No. 4 of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant has been dismantled for allowing firefighting systems to operate properly, the press service of the Chornobyl NPP state-owned specialized enterprise reported.
"The roof of the turbine island of reactor four of the Chornobyl NPP has two layers: one installed before the disaster and the protective metallic sphere installed after the disaster… Today the entire space of the post-disaster roof determined by the project have been dismantled. Now the dismantled structures are being taken into pieces and they will be removed to the special sites for storage," the enterprise said.
