KIEV, Nov. 1 ??“ Finance Minister Viktor Pynzenyk clashed with lawmakers in Parliament Tuesday seeking to stop a wave of amendments that would produce a bloated budget deficit and undermine the country??™s finances next year.

Parliament voted to approve the government??™s 2006 budget draft in the first reading on Tuesday, but suggested the amendments would have to be incorporated before the next reading Nov. 15.
