EnergoAtom to tap EBRD for nuclear safety money in late 2012

KIEV, March 18 – EnergoAtom plans to start raising funds from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the second half of 2012 to realize a program on the increase of safety of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, EnergoAtom President Yuriy Nedashkovsky told Parliament.


World Bank official voices support for toxic asset bank creation

KIEV, March 18 – The World Bank believes that an ad-hoc structure or a mechanism for working with the bad assets of three banks recapitalized by the state could be created for a short-term period in Ukraine, said Marius Vismantas, the World Bank's coordinator of activities of the finance and enterprise sector in Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova.


Fitch Ratings assigns AA+(ukr) rating to Kiev domestic bond

Antimonopoly committee permits Estonian company to buy Obukhiv plant

Ukraine’s foreign trade deficit came to $106.6 million in January

KIEV, March 20 - Ukraine's foreign trade deficit was $106.6 million in January 2008 (imported gas not included), the State Statistics Committee said.

Ukraine boosted total exports of goods and services by 14% compared to the previous month, to $3.657 billion in January and increased imports by 1.5%, to $3.763 billion.


Gross foreign debt rose to 60.2% of GDP last year, up from 50.6%

KIEV, March 20 - Ukraine's gross foreign debt for 2007 increased to 60.2% of GDP from 50.6% in 2006, the National Bank of Ukraine said in a statement on its website.
