KIEV, May 24 ??“ Thousands of protesters from throughout Ukraine, summoned up by trade unions, have joined a rally on Wednesday calling on the government to postpone a major natural gas price hike for households.

About 10,000 protesters turned out for the rally in downtown Kiev, well below 50,000 that the Trade Union Federation had originally promised, seeking to put pressure on the government.
