Exchange rate policy cannot be an efficient instrument for fighting inflation, according to the head of the National Bank of Ukraine Council (NBU), Petro Poroshenko. "We are not saying that today, exchange rate policy could be used as an efficient source of anti-inflation measures, as this could worsen the situation with the balance of trade," he said at a press conference in Wednesday after a meeting of the NBU council. Poroshenko said the government should show the key initiative in fighting inflation.
