WHO says cholera, other illnesses may spread in Russia-occupied areas Journal Staff Report
The World Health Organization (WHO) is preparing for the spread of cholera and other infectious diseases in the occupied territories, WHO's Ukraine Incident Manager Dorit Nitzan has said at a press conference on Tuesday. "We received information from non-governmental organizations that there [in Mariupol] there is a swamp on the streets, and sewage is mixed with drinking water. This increases the possibility of the spread of various diseases, including cholera. We are preparing anti-cholera kits, vaccines and are working closely with non-governmental organizations to support people in the occupied territories," Nitzan said.
