KYIV, May 7 – The Head of the State Inspectorate of Ukraine for Energy Supervision Ruslan Slobodian acknowledges the possibility of increasing electricity tariffs in 2024 due to the urgent need of the energy industry to attract substantial financial resources for the restoration of energy facilities after the Russian attacks.
"It is likely that we will have to consider the possibility of mobilizing internal reserves: revising the tariff for electricity. Recently, the NBU predicted a gradual increase in the tariff over the next few years. Since a significant financial resource is needed for the restoration of energy facilities, it may be appropriate to implement the first stage of such an increase already this year," he said on national television, as referenced by the State Inspectorate of Ukraine for Energy Supervision on its website.
