KYIV, May 8 – A reduction in wheat production in Ukraine and the world, as well as a decrease in grain reserves will be significant factors in the record rise in food grain prices in the new season, the weather may become a decisive factor supporting the growth trend, reported the analytical cooperative Pusk, created within the Ukrainian Agrarian Council (UAC).
"The supply of wheat will decrease significantly in the new season. In Ukraine, grain reserves do not exceed 5 million tons, while last year at this time they amounted to 8 million tons. According to first estimates, Ukrainian wheat production this year will not exceed 19-20 million tons versus 23 million tons that were harvested last year. Accordingly, Ukraine will be able to export no more than 13-14 million tons of grain in the new season," analysts noted.
