KYIV, April 4 – In March, bomb disposal engineer units of governmental and non-governmental operators of Ukraine examined more than 26,500 hectares of agricultural land and returned almost 23,500 hectares to economic use, reported First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko with reference to data from regional military administrations.
"During March, our ordnance technicians returned about 23,500 hectares of land to farmers. In total, about 74,000 hectares have been returned to operation since the beginning of the year. This, conditionally, extra 350,000 tons of wheat, which farmers will harvest from fields cleared of mines and explosives. It is important that as of the end of March, 80% of the returned areas were already being actively used for their intended purpose," the press service of the Ministry of Economy quoted her as saying.
