KIEV, Feb. 13 - Vipiemme Solar of Italy is seeking to build 0.5-MW solar power plant in the area around Ukraine’s Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, the Environment and Natural Resources Ministry reported Thursday.

Vipiemme Solar officials signed a memorandum of understanding with both, the ministry and the State Agency for the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, the ministry said in a statement.

“An effective environmental policy is one of the priorities for the Ukrainian government,” acting Environment and Natural Resources Minister Oleh Proskuriakov said in the statement. “I hope that the signing of the MOU is the beginning of a fruitful cooperation with our foreign partner.”
