KIEV, Sept. 16 - Electricity generated by the integrated power grids in Ukraine January through August fell by 3.2%, or by 4.236 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) year-over-year, to 127.114 billion kWh, a source at the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry told Interfax-Ukraine.

Nuclear power plants (NPPs) in the period under review reduced power generation by 6.5%, to 54.947 billion kWh. In particular, Zaporizhia NPP cut production by 8.3%, to 25.450 billion kWh, Yuzhnoukrainsk NPP by 5.8%, to 9.461 billion kWh, Rivne NPP by 5.9%, to 10.493 billion kWh, while Khmelnytsky NPP cut it by 2.9%, to 9.543 billion.

Thermal power and co-generation plants in January-August 2013 cut generation by 7%, to 55.305 billion kWh. In particular, thermal power plants alone saw a 6.2% reduction in power generation, to 49.953 billion kWh, while co-generation plants saw a 13.9% decrease, to 5.352 billion kWh.
