KIEV, Aug. 15 - Ukraine commissioned a major power line linking its Dniester Hydroelectric Pumped Storage Power Plant (HPSPP), Europe’s largest such facility, with the country’s power grid, the energy ministry reported Thursday.
The 330 kW line cost 308 million hryvnias and was built with the financial support from the World Bank, which had provided one third of the financing.
The line allows engaging the Dniester plant, which consumes power during night-time and generates power during peak hours, helping to save 250 million hryvnias annually through lower purchases of natural gas.
