KIEV, Oct. 16 – Ukraine produced 28 million metric tons of grain as of the middle of October, less than the government expected this year, Agriculture Policy Minister Yuriy Melnyk said Tuesday.

Farmers completed the grain harvesting this year and the figures show that the output has dropped dramatically from 34.3 million metric tons produced in 2006.
