KIEV, Oct. 1 – Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, encouraged by stronger-then-expected showing of his ally Socialist Party, on Monday vowed to play a key role in creating the next government coalition.

None of three exit polls on Sunday predicted the Socialist Party would enter Parliament, giving a smashing victory to two pro-Western groups that had planned to quickly oust Yanukovych.
