Parliament rejects legislation introducing biometric passports Journal Staff Report
Parliament has dismissed a bill introducing biometric passports. A total of 304 out of 394 MPs registered in the hall voted for the president's proposal to reject the law on documents confirming identity and citizenship. Parliament passed this law on September 23, but President Viktor Yanukovych vetoed it, saying that it carried the risk of violating the constitutional rights of citizens, and also violated international commitments undertaken by Ukraine.
