KIEV, June 20 ??“ Ukraine will ban exports of grain indefinitely starting July 1 in reaction to a severe drought that has killed much of its grain crops, Agro-Industrial Policy Minister Yuriy Melnyk said Wednesday.

The government also allowed local administrations throughout Ukraine to regulate bread prices in their regions, a controversial move that is apparently aimed at preventing possible bread price hikes due to the drought.
