KYIV, June 2 – The Polish energy concern Orlen, within the framework of a memorandum with the Ukrainian Naftogaz Group, will help it with its technical expertise in the reconstruction of war-damaged gas infrastructure and increase gas supplies through Poland to Ukraine, the concern reported.
"In accordance with the terms of the memorandum of understanding, the parties will seek to increase natural gas supplies through Poland to Ukraine and develop joint projects in the field of oil and gas production. Naftogaz will also use Orlen's technical experience in the restoration of gas infrastructure damaged during the war," Orlen said on its website on Monday.
In addition, as it is noted, both companies intend to implement joint investment projects in the field of fuel distribution and the development of the biofuel segment.
"The envisaged cooperation will strengthen Ukraine's energy security by expanding the diversification of supply sources - not only natural gas, but also crude oil - while opening up opportunities for the introduction of alternative fuels," Orlen commented.
The message indicates that Orlen currently supplies Ukrainian customers with refined petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel fuel and bitumen, and provides specialized services to operators in the oil production and exploration sector.
On May 29, during the Newfolk Oil & Gas conference in Lviv, Naftogaz Group and the Polish energy concern PKN Orlen signed a memorandum of understanding, which provides for the development of cooperation, in particular, in the field of production and development of deposits, restoration of destroyed infrastructure and implementation of potential joint projects.
