KYIV, May 7 - The company in the field of renewable energy Eco-Optima together with the Austrian gas storage operator RAG Austria AG intends to launch a project to produce "green" hydrogen by 2029, having planned to deliver the first 100 MW of gas to Germany by this time, owner of the Ukrainian company Zynoviy Kozytsky said.
"We are starting in 2027, and this project should be operational by 2029. We hope to deliver the first 100 MW of "green" hydrogen to Germany," Kozytsky said in an interview with Energy Club with Andriy Kulikov.
He explained that this year, at the Ukrainian-Austrian Economic Forum in April, a strategic document was signed - a memorandum of understanding between RAG Austria AG and Eco-Optima LLC, which opens up new horizons for the production of "green" hydrogen within the framework of the H2EU+Store project.
"The project involves a networked international industrial partnership initiated by RAG Austria AG to scale the "green" hydrogen market in Central Europe. During the production of "green" hydrogen, electricity is generated from renewable sources. Then, hydrogen will be supplied to the international gas transmission network in Ukraine and transported through the gas pipeline systems of Slovakia and Austria to the RAG Austria AG storage facilities," Kozytsky described the project.
As reported, in September 2024, Eco-Optima presented the largest operating wind farm in the mountainous area, Skolivska WPP with a total capacity of 54.6 MW in Lviv region (legal name Orivska LLC), investments in which amounted to about UAH 2.1 billion. According to the Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA), Andriy Konechenkov, this is a joint project of the Ukrainian company Eco Optima, owned by businessman Zynoviy Kozytsky, and the Czech MND (50/50 investment), with Ukreximbank as its main creditor. The total cost of the project is EUR75 million.
Skolivska WPP is one of three wind farms built during the war. The other two are the 114 MW DTEK Tylihulska WPP in Mykolaiv region and the second stage of Elementum Energy 60 MW Dnistrovska WPP in Odesa region. (om/ez)
