Ukraine’s metallurgy sector suffers from high tariffs, transportation costs
Journal Staff Report

KYIV, Dec 25 - The metal products and iron ore raw materials markets currently have a negative situation and do not allow for profitable operation, especially due to the constant increase in tariffs in Ukraine for electricity, rail transportation and other components, stated CEO of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih Mauro Longobardo in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

"2024 was more or less positive, more positive until the middle of the year, when electricity was not a big problem in Ukraine - there were days when there was not such a big deficit. However, we already see that by the end of the year we are returning to the situation that was before. Unfortunately, external markets, where we can export our products, are also very depressed now, if we talk about demand and prices on the market," the top manager said.
