Tymoshenko for the past three weeks has been calling on Yushchenko to dismiss Parliament after the Socialist Party defected the pro-Western camp to join the pro-Russian camp tilting balances in the legislature. On Friday, Tymoshenko said her group will still push for the early election, which she said, will take place ???sooner??? than the presidential election in December 2009.
Parliament could technically be disbanded if at least 150 lawmakers move to resign, a development that had been earlier considered by the Tymoshenko group.
???I am convinced that there will be early parliamentary election,??? Tymoshenko told the Radio Liberty. ???I am convinced that the country will unyoke itself much sooner than the presidential election.???
Analysts said that some lawmakers from Our Ukraine will probably join forces with the Tymoshenko group to oppose the new government and potential creating a strong alliance.
???Tymoshenko appears eager to sell herself as the true heart of the Orange revolution, and a rallying point for Orange supporters,??? Ash said.
???It will be now interesting to see whether those Our Ukraine lawmakers that failed to vote for Yanukovych ally with Tymoshenko in Parliament,??? Ash said. ???An opposition block of potentially 180 MPs could make life quite difficult for Yanukovych et al, and for Yushchenko.??? (tl/ez)
