WASHINGTON, Aug. 3 - The United States pledged to work with Viktor Yanukovych, Ukraine's likely new prime minister, despite perceptions his comeback will slow his country's march to the West, AFP reported.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko appointed his former rival, who was blocked from becoming president by the so-called "Orange Revolution" in 2004 -- which was strongly supported by the United States.
