KIEV, July 6 ??“ Russia on Thursday denied requests for extra gas supplies to Ukraine unless Kiev pays $600 million debt and lets a Gazprom-led joint venture manage the country??™s natural gas pipelines, a newspaper reported.

The development leaves Ukraine with an estimated 16.9 billion cubic meters natural gas supply gap this year that would put pressure on the country to buy prohibitively expensive gas in Turkmenistan.
