KIEV, Feb. 11 ??“ Ukraine will seek Western energy companies to join a consortium that would build and own new natural gas pipelines aimed at increasing gas supplies to Europe, Prime Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov said Saturday.

The plan is apparently aimed at winning support for the new pipelines crossing Ukraine rather than building an expensive gas supply route via the Baltic Sea that had been pushed by Russia.
