MOSCOW, Dec. 12 ??“ Ukraine and Russia on Monday made progress in talks over natural gas supplies and prices that may lead to a deal signed before the end of the year, the Russian government reported.

The progress in the talks is watched carefully across Europe as the Russian-Ukrainian gas dispute, unless resolved quickly, may have an impact on gas supplies to the European Union, officials said.
