KIEV, Aug. 12 - Ukraine and Georgia agreed Friday to push for creation of a new regional bloc stretching from the Baltic Sea to the Caspian Sea to help "spread and protect democracy."

President Viktor Yushchenko, during his visit to Georgia, signed a declaration with Georgian counterpart Mikhail Saakashvili that calls for the bloc. Ukraine will host a summit of regional leaders that may actually create the bloc in the fall.
