IMF document specifies 12.1 bcm Naftogaz natgas return to RUE

KIEV, Feb. 18 – Naftogaz Ukrayiny will have to return 12.1 billion cubic meters in monthly payments to Swiss-registered gas trader RosUkrEnergo this year, as per a ruling by the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, reads a memorandum by the Ukrainian authorities to the International Monetary Fund.


Fuel import duties must follow upgrade of refineries, says official

KIEV, Feb. 18 - Fuel import duties will be introduced only when Ukrainian oil refineries considerably improve the quality of the fuel they produce, First Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister Vadym Kopylov said at a press conference in Kiev.


Ukrainians may strengthen hryvnia to slow inflation, analysts say

KIEV, Feb. 20 - Ukrainian authorities might opt to strengthen the hryvnia in order to slow inflation, analysts said.

"We expect that the government will tighten monetary policy, as inflation continues to increase. Besides the usual monetary methods, the government might also resort to less traditional measures to reduce the level of inflation.
