Ferrero in legal battle with Russian company over Ukraine trademark
KIEV, Oct. 21 – Ferrero Group, the world’s No. 4 confectionary producer, is in a fierce legal battle with a Russian company as it tries to protect the use of its trademark in Ukraine.
The case, involving Ferrero and Landrin of St. Petersburg, will be heard by the Supreme Economic Court on October 27 and will send a signal whether Ukraine can protect intellectual property. |
UkrFA and UkrMet plan to unite to fight metals sector crisis
KIEV, Oct. 20 – The Ukrainian Association of Ferroalloy Producers (UkrFA) and the Ukrainian Association of Ferrous Metals Producers (UkrMet) plan to unite in order to jointly draw up ways to overcome the crisis in the domestic metals sector. |
Moody’s lowers global, national ratings of 12 Ukrainian banks
LONDON, Oct. 21 - International rating agency Moody's Investors Service has downgraded the global local currency (GLC) deposit ratings and the National Scale Ratings (NSRs) of 12 Ukrainian banks.
Moody's said in a press release that it had "also changed the outlook to stable from positive on the B2 long-term global foreign currency (GFC) deposit ratings of 21 Ukrainian banks."

Domestic consumption of rolled steel projected to grow 26% this year
KIEV, Oct. 19 - Ukraine’s domestic consumption of rolled steel is expected to grow by 26% year-on-year to 11 million metric tons in 2007, up from about 8.8 million tons consumed in 2006, an industrial policy ministry official said Friday.
The country’s growing economy, led by booming construction and industrial modernization, spurs domestic demand for steel, allowing the country’s steelmaker to supply more steel to domestic consumers.

Ukraine's GDP grows 3.5% on year in August, accelerating from July
KYIV, Sept 18 – Ukraine's gross domestic product (GDP) growth in August 2024 compared to August of the previous year was 3.5% [±1%], which is better than the June and July figures of 1.1% and 2.7%, respectively, but lower than the April and May figures of 4.3% and 3.7%, according to preliminary assessments released by the Ministry of Economy on Wednesday.
