Thermal power plants (TPPs) and combined heat and power plants (CHPPs) in Ukraine saw a 25.4% fall in coal consumption in January-August 2017 year-over-year, to 15.308 million tons. According to the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry, in August alone, coal consumption fell by 12.5%, to 2.364 million.
