Seven killed after Friday coal mine explosion in city of Donetsk Journal Staff Report
A Friday accident at the A. A. Skochynsky coal mine in the city of Donetsk claimed the lives of seven. A methane-air mixture explosion occurred at the fourth section of the mine at 6:24 a.m., a spokesman for the Donetsk region branch of the mining industry watchdog said. There were 78 people in the mine at the time. The Donetsk region Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal inquiry into the deaths and the mine's operations have been suspended.
