KIEV, Aug. 12 – The hryvnia lost value against the U.S. dollar on Wednesday, a day after the National Bank of Ukraine had cut key interest rates, with NBU officials blaming “political chaos” for the local currency’s weakening.
The hryvnia closed at 8.24 hryvanis to the dollar ion trading between commercial banks, compared with 8.15/dollar the previous day, according to dealers.
