KIEV, Nov. 26 – President Viktor Yushchenko fired Ivan Pliushch as his top security advisor on Monday, three days after Our Ukraine-People’s Self-defense lawmakers had rejected Pliushch’s nomination for the speaker of Parliament.

As the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, the top security body under the president, Pliushch had an instrumental role in the dismissal of Parliament earlier this year.
