KIEV, Oct. 24 – The Ukrainian government on Wednesday banned any increases in tariffs and prices that are regulated by the state through the end of the year in an attempt to curb accelerating inflation.

The measure is a response to rising prices of food and energy and comes as many analysts see inflation outpacing the government’s official forecast and hitting a double-digit figure in 2008.
