KIEV, Oct. 11 - President Viktor Yushchenko’s office on Thursday accused Russian gas giant Gazprom of using its energy leverage for putting political pressure on Ukraine ahead of crucial talks over natural gas prices.

This is the strongest accusation yet made by a top Ukrainian official against Gazprom following its warning last week that gas supplies will be reduced unless Ukraine pays $1.3 billion debt by November 1.
