KIEV, Sept. 12 - Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych on Wednesday rejected allegations that his government had helped a well-connected businessman to acquire a stake in the country’s largest fossil burning power plant.
Yanukovych responded to the allegations from opposition leaders accusing the government of fixing the sale of the stake in DniproEnergo to Rinat Akhmetov, the wealthiest Ukrainian with assets in power, steel and coal mining sectors. Akhmetov is the key financial sponsor of Yanukovych’s Regions Party.
