KIEV, Oct. 24 ??“ President Viktor Yushchenko has proposed that MPs amend the law on banks and allow the opening in Ukraine of foreign bank branches with at least EUR150 million of statutory capital.

The bill containing the proposals was drawn up to allow foreign banks to open branches in Ukraine, which is a very important condition for Ukraine to join the World Trade Organization and a requirement for Ukraine's membership in the European Union.
