KYIV, June 14 – The State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving expects to complete work on a bill on the implementation of the Net Energy Metering mechanism by December, designed to encourage electricity consumers to install renewable energy generating facilities for their own consumption without a feed-in tariff, agency deputy chairman Yuriy Shafarenko said.
"The deadline that we discussed with the USAID Energy Security Project, which helps in its creation, is that by December we are working out the bill, submitting it for approval by central authorities, holding public hearings and finalizing the bill. According to the optimistic scenario, this year it may pass the government and be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration," Shafarenko said in a commentary to the Energy Reform Internet portal during the 12th European-Ukrainian Energy Day in Kyiv, organized by the European-Ukrainian Energy Agency.
