KYIV, Feb 8 – Ukraine may start vaccinating several priority groups of people in parallel in order to speed up the process, Viktor Liashko, the deputy health minister, said Tuesday.
"Ukraine will receive 117,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine, which is planned to cover 55,000 people, because we will not use all 117,000 doses, and then wait until another vaccine arrives. There will be the first dose, the second dose will be waiting for the same person at the national warehouse. Further, by the end of the month, we expect the supply of vaccines from two more sources - additional vaccines under the COVAX initiative from AstraZeneca [from 2.2 million] and a vaccine purchased for state budget funds [about 1.2 million doses in February]. This will allow us to get a large amount of vaccine and start several stages in parallel [the first - third stage]," he said.
