KYIV, Feb 6 – A former Russian official was appointed the separatist prime minister in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region, with the Kremlin distancing itself from the move, RFE/RL reported.

Vladimir Pashkov, former deputy governor of Russia's Irkutsk region, had become "the acting prime minister of the Donetsk people's republic," local Donetsk media reported.
