KYIV, Jan 17 - Ukraine completed construction of a dry storage for spent nuclear fuel at the site of decommissioned Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, the state exclusion zone management agency reported Friday.
The Euro 320-million facility will store spent nuclear fuel from the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant that has been kept in less advanced wet storage facilities on the site since 1986.
“The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant has received its dry storage for spent nuclear fuel,” the agency, which supervises activity in the exclusion zone, reported in a statement.
