KYIV, Jan 14 – As many as 23.7% of Kyiv residents would vote for incumbent Mayor Vitali Klitschko if mayoral elections were held next Sunday, as seen from a public opinion poll conducted by the non-governmental organization Interaction Social Development Center.
Asked first for whom they would vote in mayoral elections in Kyiv without indicating the possible candidates' affiliation with any political parties, 23.7% of all those polled, (or 30.9% of so-called 'committed' voters, i.e. those who are determined to go to polling stations and know firmly for whom they would vote), named Klitschko. The latter's closest rival, businessman and TV host Andriy Palchevsky, would get 15.1% (19.7%), and entertainer and volunteer Serhiy Prutyla 7.6% (9.9%), the poll showed.
