KYIV, Nov 12 - Ban on sale of farming land to foreigners will reduce competition, however introduction of a transition period before opening the land market is in line with European practice, the World Bank said.
"It is the government of Ukraine who should decide whether foreigners are allowed to buy farmland in Ukraine. Various practices exist in Ukraine: some countries let foreigners buy arable land and some do not, some [countries] banned [land] sale for several years," the World Bank told Interfax-Ukraine.
