KIEV, Aug. 10 ??“ Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych pledged to hold a meeting with major oil companies and gasoline traders on Monday in an attempt to prevent a rapid increase in gasoline prices.

This will be the first meeting with the companies and traders since June 2005 when then Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko had unsuccessfully tried to stop gas price hikes.
