KYIV, Aug 30 – Ukraine should be more active in pushing through its economic and political issues on the world arena, Vadym Prystaiko, the newly appointed foreign minister, said.
"Over the years of independence, we as a state and our diplomatic service have achieved a lot. We have become an equal member of the world community, and with arms in hand have defended our right to an independent foreign policy. We have realized the bitter truth about ‘brotherhood from the North’ and ‘guarantees of security’ from the West. We clearly declare our ambitions for the equitable distribution of resources in the world, participation in international processes, our place in human development. We just become more mature as a nation," he said, speaking in parliament on Thursday.
