KYIV, June 6 – Some 60% of Ukrainian citizens use financial products, and only 12% of them have deposits, USAID Deputy Project Manager Yulia Vitka has said when presenting the debut survey of financial literacy of the population of Ukraine according to the method of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
"Some 52% [of those surveyed] said that they had saved money by keeping it in their purses or cash at home ... Among those who have savings on deposit accounts, more than half also kept their savings at home. This indicates a very solid culture of cash preference and avoiding relations with banks," the authors of the study said.
