KYIV, April 8 – The decision on a dispute between Ukraine and Russia regarding restrictions on the transit transportation (the DS512 case), which was made public by the Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) of the World Trade Organization (WTO) on April 5, may influence the other Ukraine-Russia disputes in the WTO, according to partner of Ilyashev & Partners law firm Olena Omelchenko.
In a comment to Interfax-Ukraine, she recalled that two more related cases are at the stage of consultations in the WTO: the DS532 case initiated by Ukraine (regarding a ban on import and transit of juice, restrictions on sale of beer, confectionery products, and wallpapers) and the DS532 case initiated by Russia (regarding the sanctions introduced by the president and the government and a ban on export of Russian goods to Ukraine).
