KYIV, March 29 – The central spent nuclear fuel storage facility is 72%-ready, President of National Nuclear Generating Company Energoatom Yuriy Nedashkovsky told reporters on Thursday.
"On average, we estimate construction readiness at 72%. Work is carried out in line with the schedule, which provides for completion of construction work and the launch of startup works in the first quarter of next year, the introduction of the first startup complex of this facility in the second quarter of 2020, which should end with the installation of the first containers with spent nuclear fuel in the storage area," he said.
Nedashkovsky also added that at present, Energoatom has received 47 out of 56 units of main and auxiliary equipment.
