KYIV, June 19 - Electricity consumption in Ukraine in January-May 2018, taking into account in-process consumption, increased by 2.8% (by 1.774 billion kWh) compared to the same period in 2017, to 65.563 billion kWh, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry reported.
Excluding in-process consumption, electricity consumption for this period rose by 3.5% (by 1.760 billion kWh), to 52.488 billion kWh.
The industry of the country, without taking into account in-process consumption, raised electricity consumption by 5.1%, to 21.878 billion kWh. In particular, metallurgical industry consumed 12.416 billion kWh (4.6% up compared to January-May 2017), fuel some 1.521 billion kWh (2.7% down), machine building 1.843 billion kWh (5.9% up), chemical and petrochemical 1.369 billion kWh (33.6% up), food and processing 1.799 billion kWh (2.1% up), the sector of construction materials some 838.2 million kWh (3.7% down), and others 2.092 billion kWh (5.5% up).
