KYIV, June 6 – The non-performing rules for assessing the impact on environment disrupt plans to boost gas production in Ukraine, the Association of Gas Producers of Ukraine said.
"To date, gas companies have filed more than 120 applications for an environmental impact assessment procedure, of which only nine have been satisfied to extend extraction licenses. The main problem is the categorical refusal of the regional administrations to assess the impact without the official approval of the amount of fees for holding public hearings by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine," the association said in the statement.
